The emerging social media landscape is being defined by a disruptive collection of services, platforms, and tools that are only starting to impact the business world.

The purpose of our group is to enable business professionals in NYC to learn more about leveraging social media and technology to excel in today's business environment. Our format will be designed to encourage networking and information sharing.

Our topic for this meeting will be leveraging social tools for employee engagement and internal corporate communications. Here is our agenda:

Introduction
Daniel Leslie, Reflexions Data

We'll start with introductions by attendees and a presentation by Daniel about the purpose of the group. He'll present a brief overview of what social media will mean for engagement between companies, employees, customers, and brands.

Case Study: Barnet Council
Christoph Schmaltz, Headshift

Christoph will be showcasing a project his company did with the Barnet Council in London on using social tools for employee engagement and internal communications. Among others, the Council had set up a change management program which also included cutting costs. Instead of pushing the program through in a top-down fashion, everyone was invited to submit and discuss ideas on how to cut costs and prepare the Council for the challenges ahead. Christoph will be presenting on the specific business needs, challenges, opportunities, strategies, and technology that were part of this project.

Case Study: Neighborhood America
Jason Breed

Jason will present how Neighborhood America has used social media internally and the savings realized from how a social company implements social strategies themselves. Topics will include recruiting through Linked In / Facebook, reducing internal email significantly using Yammer behind the firewall, and practical uses of mobile alerts.

Our meeting will take place at the offices of Marsh & McLennan Companies, 1166 Avenue of the Americas (6th Ave at 45th St) on the 40th floor. Make sure to bring a photo ID and check in with security on the ground floor. Food will be served!

Cost: $5.00
